There’s so much to be said about a woman who defies the impossible to become the first licensed civilian pilot of African descent, during a time when America took pride in not letting us be Great. She paved the way and what that means is that she gave her predecessors courage to do the the same. These stories are vital for our upliftment, self esteem and somebodyness (as Rev Dr Martin King Jr. would say) as a collective. Someone will learn her story and know that they too FLY.
